Pond pump spares FAQs

Our pond pump spares are manufactured alongside our pumps. If you use one of our pond pumps , we guarantee all spares will fit perfectly.

We have the luxury of being able to reserve a portion of all parts that go into our pond pumps as spares, so can guarantee they’ll work!

We stock every type of pond pump spare you could need. That includes pond filters, filter refills, service kits, general replacement parts and accessories.

As we manufacture Fish Mate pumps, we make sure we have the spares to keep them running for the longest time. If you don’t see what you need in store, contact us and we’ll see what we can do!

Pond pumps will need servicing but it’s minimal. Make it part of your regular pond care schedule and that should be enough.

Keep the filter clean and free of debris, listen to the pump while it’s working to make sure it isn’t making any strange noises and both the inlet and outlet are free flowing. That’s about it.

Our pond pumps have been designed with reliability and longevity in mind but there may be times when they need servicing. You’ll see servicing kits on our pond pump spares page that should be all you need.

We would only recommend servicing your pump if you’re confident with such things, otherwise, it may be better to replace it.

We have named our pond pump spares after the capacity of our pond pumps. For example, the Fish Mate 4000 pond pump would require the 4000 pond pump service kit. The Fish Mate 7000 would use the 7000 pond pump service kit and so on.

Filters and other spares will mention what pump they are compatible with in the description. Otherwise, feel free to reach out and we’ll help

Clogging is a challenge for any pond pump but there are some practical ways to minimise it. Keep your pond clean, remove debris as much as possible, use a filter or pre-filter, introduce fish that eat algae, introduce plant life that minimises algae, place the pump slightly off the pond floor or reposition in an area less prone to floating debris.

Anchoring a pond pump gives it a solid foundation and minimises the chances of it working loose and floating to the surface which could damage it. You can secure the pond pump in place with nylon rope and large stones or bricks to act as anchors or set up a dedicated platform, depending on your needs.
