Great feeder.Easy to set up. Sadly I wish i'd purchased from pets at home as would have been £20 cheaper with their offer. Also I ended up needing shallow bowls as my cat won't eat from the provided bowl so training him to use us taking longer.
Fabulous feeder. Easy to train the cats and a really quiet motor. Seems to get a touch louder over time but the cats don't seem to notice! Amazing customer service too, fast replies and very helpful.
Hi, firstly its a brilliant item as we have 5 cats, but can you tell me if you have any plans to fetch out a split dish, as in the evenings our cats have half wet food and half biscuits.
I bought two and one cat got used to it virtually straightaway but the other cat’s unit seems to take a second to two longer to open and she wanders off. Then it opens and she goes back but she’s a bit slow and cautious and it closes again as she gets there so she gives up. I’m trying to persevere but most often having to leave her lid open otherwise she won’t eat from it. I agree with others that a split bowl would be a great option even as an additional extra purchase. It would be very useful.
I have one cat who likes to graze and another that likes to eat everything in front of him as fast as possible, then vomit it up.
This feeder saves me so much time as I no longer have to monitor meal time, and my slow kitty is able to come and go without his brother stealing his food. Fast kitty was not a fan of this and tried to find a way around it several times, but has mostly given up now.
The lid closes fairly quickly when the cat pulls his head out. My only issue with the bowl is that it is slow to open for the first time after using the manual close button - in other words, I put the food in, close the lid manually and place the bowl on the floor. When kitty sticks his head in to open, the bowl is slow to respond the first time. After that, it opens more or less as soon as his head is over it.
My boy took a while to learn to use it, about two weeks before he seemed fully comfortable. He's not a smart cat, his faster brother understood the concept on day one. Due to the slowness of the first opening my slow boy has somehow decided that it opens when he purrs at it, which is very cute.
Overall, very impressed with the bowl and I think it's worth the money. It's also (at time of writing) cheaper than the other microchip feeder you can get, which has the added downside of being completely open at the back so another cat could stick his head in at the same time.
FAQs
How does the MiBowl microchip pet feeder work?
The MiBowl uses RFID technology to read your pet's existing ISO or AVID 15-digit microchip. When your pet approaches, the feeder scans their chip and opens the lid only for registered pets, keeping other animals out. It programs up to 10 pets and works with electronic I.D. Disc collar tags for non-chipped pets.
What size pets can use the MiBowl and how much food does it hold?
The MiBowl is ideal for small to medium cats, kittens, and small dogs. The bowl holds 340g (12oz) – approximately 4 standard wet food pouches. It includes portion-protecting clips for smaller pets like kittens and works with both wet and dry food.
Will the MiBowl work with my pet's existing microchip?
Yes! The MiBowl reads all standard ISO (15-digit) and AVID microchips used by vets worldwide. No additional chipping required – it works with the microchip your pet already has.
How long do batteries last and is the MiBowl noisy?
With typical use (4-6 bowl openings per day), 4 C batteries last 6-12 months. The MiBowl is compatible with both standard alkaline and rechargeable batteries. The lid features ultra-quiet operation specifically designed not to startle nervous or anxious pets.
Is the MiBowl safe and easy to clean?
Yes. The MiBowl has built-in lid stall detection to prevent paw or head trapping. The removable food bowl is dishwasher-safe and made from BPA-free materials. Simply lift out the bowl, wash it, and click it back in place.
What makes the MiBowl different from other microchip feeders?
The MiBowl offers a fully enclosed design that prevents access from all sides (not just the front), programs up to 10 pets, includes portion-protecting clips for smaller animals, and has a more compact footprint with quieter operation than most alternatives.
