Good solid catflap that seems reliable

Good solid catflap that seems reliable and easy to fit, could be clearer that no microchip tags are not included and must be bought separately but otherwise great.

They're great when they work

They're great when they work (2 have broken in the last 5 years, replaced under warranty, so that was good)... The instructions are okay,it's not particularly user friendly without instructions, but it does the job and saves my cats from nighttime fighting and random cats coming in! Would definitely buy again.

The Cat Mate Elite 355W uses RFID technology to read your cat's existing 15-digit ISO microchip. When your cat pushes against the flap to enter, it scans their chip and unlocks only for registered cats, keeping other animals out. All cats (registered or not) can exit freely unless you manually lock the flap. The timer function allows you to set curfews for all cats.

How many cats can I program into the Cat Mate Elite 355W?

The Cat Mate Elite 355W can program up to 9 cats, making it ideal for multi-cat households. Each cat is registered using their unique microchip or a Cat Mate I.D. Disc collar tag. The LCD display can track and show the location (in/out) for up to 3 selected cats.

What is the timer function and how does it work?

The timer function allows you to set specific times when your cats can access the flap. This is perfect for setting nighttime curfews to keep your cats safely indoors during certain hours. The timer controls access for all registered cats simultaneously. You can easily program the timer using the control panel, and the LCD display shows the current timer status.

What size cats can use the Cat Mate Elite 355W cat flap?

The Cat Mate Elite 355W is designed for small to average-sized cats. The flap opening measures 145mm × 145mm (5.7" × 5.7"). The overall external dimensions are 248mm wide × 265mm high.

Will the Cat Mate Elite 355W work in my door or wall?

Yes! The Cat Mate Elite 355W self-lines to 100mm (4") thick, making it suitable for wooden doors, UPVC/ metal doors, single/multiple glazing, and walls. For thicker walls, use the Cat Mate Elite Wall Liner tunnel sections (Part 308W). Unlike some models, this flap does NOT require an adapter kit for glass installation – it can be fitted directly into glass panels.

How long do batteries last and does the Cat Mate Elite 355W come with a warranty?

The Cat Mate Elite 355W runs on 4 AA batteries (not included) lasting approximately 12 months with normal use. A built-in low battery indicator alerts you when replacement is needed. The flap includes a 3-year manufacturer warranty, and replacement flaps (Part 931) are readily available.
