Works like a charm! Neighborhood cats stay out, my own come in. No problem reading their implanted chips.

A little confusing

These were easy to install after I cut the hole in our door. It works fairly well once our cat learned to wait for the sound of the lock releasing. Cats pretty much have to push it with their heads. The instructions on programming could be better. One direction seems easier for the lock to open than the other even though I have both ways open. Hopefully our older cat will take it up as easy as the young one. One last note is that the flap comes down quickly after they go through. It seems to land on his tail and I'm not sure if it bothers him or not.

Freedom for Kitty

Works very well. Nice to have a timed feature to curfew our kitty for the night. Although she sometimes wakes us up by banging on the flap before the set time to open. The door was fairly easy to install except for the added draft seal required in paneled door. Once in a while it seems to get stuck and won't let the cat in using her chip. Pushing the flap from the inside seems to get it going again. This is infrequent but annoying.The biggest issue so far has been the free access it gives her to bring in all sorts of critters from outside including bunnies, birds, chipmunks and mice which we have to capture and release back outdoors. Needs a critter detector.

Worth every penny

Bought as replacement for previous version that wore out! This one is improved electronics and easier to program. Cat soon got used to electric whirring of flap lock as he associates it with flap open. Display shows you when cat in or out on the prowl. This version ideal for door installation. Cat has chip and device easily reads it, so no need for manual locks etc. Better than magnetic lock devices as had one of these (Cheaper) before but magnet on cat collar would pick up metallic rubbish (nails and sharp objects) on cats travels! Definitely recommend Closer Pets Elite Microchip cat flap. Easy to install as long as you are competent and follow "Measure twice, cut once" methodology

Yes! The Cat Mate Elite 355W self-lines to 100mm (4") thick, making it suitable for wooden doors, UPVC/ metal doors, single/multiple glazing, and walls. For thicker walls, use the Cat Mate Elite Wall Liner tunnel sections (Part 308W). Unlike some models, this flap does NOT require an adapter kit for glass installation – it can be fitted directly into glass panels.

How long do batteries last and does the Cat Mate Elite 355W come with a warranty?

The Cat Mate Elite 355W runs on 4 AA batteries (not included) lasting approximately 12 months with normal use. A built-in low battery indicator alerts you when replacement is needed. The flap includes a 3-year manufacturer warranty, and replacement flaps (Part 931) are readily available.
