FAQs

Are all removable parts dishwasher safe?

Yes — all components that come into contact with food, including the food tank (hopper), food rotor/screw, and food bowl, are fully dishwasher safe. The main base unit houses the electronics and should be wiped with a damp cloth only. We also sell spare stainless steel bowls (Part 822) so you always have a clean one ready.

What size is a single portion, and how much can the bowl hold?

A single portion is approximately 8g ± 2g (approx. 0.28 oz ± 0.07 oz), depending on your kibble's density and shape. The bowl holds up to 15 portions at a time — approximately 120g (4.2 oz) in total.

Is there a kibble size limit?

Yes. For smooth dispensing and to prevent jams, the feeder is optimised for dry kibble between 3mm and 10mm (approx. ⅛" to ⅜") in diameter.

How often should I replace the desiccant bag?

We recommend replacing the desiccant bag (Part 821) every 30 days to reduce moisture and keep your pet's food as fresh as possible. The Closer Pets Hub app will send you a handy reminder when it's time to change it.

Will scheduled feeds still work during a power cut?

Yes. If the power fails, the feeder automatically switches to battery backup (you will need 3 x D alkaline batteries — do not use rechargeable). Your pre-programmed feeding schedules are saved locally on the device and will continue to dispense on time.

How do I connect the feeder to the Closer Pets Hub app?

Download the free Closer Pets Hub app and register. With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled, open the app and tap "Add Device." Follow the prompts, grant the required permissions, and enter your Wi-Fi password when asked. Note: the feeder requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection and passwords must be 12 characters or fewer.
